Bolton’s University Technical College (UTC) is a high-quality fully equipped college specialising in Engineering Technologies and Health Sciences, and is the first college in the UK located within a university campus dedicated to Engineering Technologies and Health Sciences specifically for 14 to 19 year olds.

The North West, particularly Bolton and the surrounding areas, has a diverse range of employers within these sectors requiring professional, technical and skilled workforce at all levels. But with most specialised companies, finding the ideal candidate suitably qualified to their organisation is often quite hard.

Therefore as a local business, and being only a stone’s throw away from the campus, Movetech UK was determined to take the step in becoming an official UTC partner. Since the building was officially opened, it has allowed Movetech UK to help build connections between students, parents, lecturers and even other local businesses by offering assistance, advice and professional relations.

Tim Entwistle, Movetech UK’s Managing Director said: “We believe students should be given alternative educational provision leading to real opportunities for progression towards higher education or sustainable employment. When the opportunities become available, we will be able to offer apprenticeship level jobs to those graduates who wish to continue their journey into engineering, giving them an opportunity to use their skills and achieve their full potential in a workplace environment.”

Tim then went on to say: “The college proposed the specific subjects due to the significant skills shortage both locally and nationally, and as a local manufacturing company we will continue to offer a helping hand to all involved, supporting the college in providing excellence for all, through equality, opportunity, inclusion and achievement.”
